Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Instructor/Educator

Gunnery Sergeant Anthony Reaves entered the United States Marine Corps on August 8, 1979, and completed 21 years of honorable and faithful service before retiring in 2000. Following his retirement, he joined Leon High School as a Marine Corps JROTC Instructor.

GySgt Reaves brings over 30 years of experience in education and instruction. While on active duty, he served as an Infantry Leader, Drill Instructor, Instructor at Military Service Academies, and Marine Officer Instructor at the Florida A&M University / Florida State University / Tallahassee State College Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.

In his current role, GySgt Reaves provides instruction and training to JROTC cadets, focusing on leadership development, citizenship, personal growth and responsibility, public service, career exploration, self-discipline, and the core values of honor, courage, and commitment. He develops operating instructions and procedures for the Military Science curriculum and plans extracurricular activities for the MCJROTC unit, including color/honor guard ceremonies, drill team competitions, field trips, and mini-boot camps.

GySgt Reaves's ultimate goal as a Marine Instructor is to help students develop a strong sense of individual well-being, preparing them to become contributing members of society as family members, workers, nurturers, consumers, citizens, and life-long learners.
